i know you think you love love, but love is a lot harder than you think it to be.  jump at love, it won’t be love; it’ll be a throw-away.  good.  get your heart broken. don’t go into it thinking, “this is the one that breaks my heart.”  just go into it thinking this is the one i love. you’ll learn. throw yourself at it fully.  if the first hit works, great.  most likely it won’t.  you’ll be better for it. don’t guard your heart until you know better.  it is better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all.  you’ll probably call bullshit on this after your first heartbreak, as i did, but with maturity comes wisdom. live life.

Love (detail) by Chelsea Greene Lewyta

If questioning would make us wise
No eyes would ever gaze in eyes;
If all our tale were told in speech
No mouths would wander each to each.

Were spirits free from mortal mesh
And love not bound in hearts of flesh
No aching breasts would yearn to meet
And find their ecstasy complete.

For who is there that lives and knows
The secret powers by which he grows?
Were knowledge all, what were our need
To thrill and faint and sweetly bleed?

Then seek not, sweet, the “If” and “Why”
I love you now until I die.
For I must love because I live
And life in me is what you give.

Because She Would Ask Me Why I Loved Her
